In February of 2022, I flew from Washington, DC, to Miami to attend a national gathering of an organization of which I am on the Board of Advisors. I had been instructed to download an app to my phone and enter a specific code to bill my ground transportation to the organization. A glitch occurred, and I paid out of pocket to travel from the airport to the hotel where the gathering was taking place. Not wishing to continue paying out of pocket for additional ground transportation, I sought help from anyone with tech knowledge who might understand how to fix the problem with my app. Several people I asked were experiencing the same problem, while others whose apps worked fine could not resolve my issue.
Then I met Zander Keig, another Board Advisor. Like the others, he was initially perplexed by the problem, but unlike them, he was undeterred and defiant to the idea of allowing this phone app to defeat him. Not only did he fix the problem, but he explained what had happened and voluntarily took the time to teach me how to fix it without uninstalling and reinstalling it should it happen again. The overture of kindness, perseverance, and generosity in imparting knowledge by this man has led to a friendship I would not trade for anything in the world.
Zander Keig is what I would consider to be nothing short of a master locksmith. He has the lockpicking and decoding skills to open and reset the tumblers and combination number codes to the secrets of living life to the fullest in the face of discrimination, rejection, locked doors, and various obstacles placed upon life's pathways and journeys. He seeks contentment by being challenged but is not content by winning, only by pursuing the next challenge. Mr. Keig is a lifelong student of learning and is equally comfortable as a teacher sharing his expertise and wealth of knowledge with others.
